Aamo Elias has been behind the chair since 1965.
Elias Abboud began styling hair in 1965 and moved into his salon on Pierre Gemayel Street in Aïn el-Remmaneh in 1967. Nearly six decades later, at 80 years old, he still opens the shop each morning, works on his own, and practices the traditional craft he learned before blow-dryers became salon staples.
As customers became fewer and the cost of keeping the old shop grew uncertain, his story spread across social media. Women from around Lebanon began visiting his chair to support him, turning a modest neighborhood salon into a national story of solidarity. For Aamo Elias, the salon is more than work; it is the life he refuses to leave behind.
